Speeches and table
topics are evaluated for preparation and delivery (though not for content).
However, it is the job of the grammarian to monitor and report on the
correct use of grammar for the entire meeting.
The grammarian's
report takes place toward the end of the meeting and gives the grammarian
an opportunity to provide constructive feedback about each individual's
speaking styles. Asheville Toastmasters club has some extremely proficient
speakers, but even the most experienced members can occasionally be
heard using irregular words or run-on sentences. The grammarian will
usually catch these and point them out as areas for improvement.
As with all toastmasters
evaluations, the grammarian is expected to offer constructive feedback
in a suppportive manner and suggest ways in which individuals can use
grammar more effectively.
